Health care administrators are responsible for the planning, organization and management of health care personnel, facilities, clinical services and programs. The Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration degree program prepares individuals for successful careers in health care leadership and delivery settings including acute, long-term acute, nursing home, hospice and home care.
Medical and health service executives can manage an entire facility or specialize in managing a specific clinical area, department or practice. Health care administrators are focused on improving efficiency and quality in delivering health care services. They also must stay updated on laws and regulations to insure their organization stays in compliance.
Health care administration majors gain valuable internship experience in a variety of health care settings as part of their undergraduate program. Graduates are equipped to pursue employment or advancement in their profession and many choose to enroll in a Master of Business Administration degree program.
